Gifts for myself

I've been trying not to buy any new miniatures, especially when I don't have an immediate use for them, but I couldn't resist HBS's 50% off sale on their some of their modern miniatures pieces.  At one point, I had all the sale pieces in my cart.  But I came to my senses and culled it down to three!

And I finally bought Lea Frisoni's book. I had been waiting to see if would be translated into English but I could wait no longer.  I was able to make the chair in the picture from the French online tutorial, so hopefully I'll be able to manage something from the book!  In any case, it is a beautiful book with lots of wonderful ideas and inspiration.

  1. Love the new chairs!! Do you mind if I ask where you bought Lea's book through? I really want this book too- but I'm not sure where to buy it from :) I can't wait to see the projects you choose to make from it!

  2. Kim, I bought the book through Amazon.ca (Canada). I've found that books from England and other parts of Europe are easier to get through Canada! It's more than you might spend on Amazon in the US but worth it! Also, it was delivered much faster than promised.

  4. Heather, I love the new chairs! I have been in a shopping mode too lately and have spoiled myself yet again....LOL Lea's book is so worth every penny even if it is in French. Good to know about Amazon.ca.......I had my nephew by it from Amazon.France for me and it was pricey(for him...LOL)and took forever to arrive. It turned out to be a gift from him so I scored! You can always google translate any of the instructions you need. Your chair that you made come out wonderful!

  5. LOL...Heather I was also waiting for a translation on the book, but could wait no longer. I bought mine last month through amazon.fr. At the time I bought it, it was cheaper from the French site than the Canadian one. =) It arrived two weeks later. I haven't made anything yet but started to translate some of the things I want to try first. I get so excited when I see someone else has this book and what they have made from it. Your chair looks awesome. Can't wait to see more! =)

  6. Great shopping! And your 'Lea Frissoni chair' looks lovely. I spend hours just looking at the pictures in Lea's book. I've used Google to do some of the translations, better than relying on my 'imaginative' French, but sometimes Google's version is truly hilarious. Lucky she's got great pictures and diagrams :)

  9. What wonderful shopping! It is a good policy to grab every chair, then cull or else you look up and someone is walking away with just the one you want! :-D

I'd love this book too and have been waiting for an English translation. Maybe there will never be one - or it will be released the day after I buy it!
